Reap What You Sow Mondays with Tony: Patience in the Process

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel pressured to achieve instant success. We expect immediate results from our efforts, whether it’s in our careers, relationships, or personal goals. However, true growth and success often take time. Patience is a vital part of the journey.

When you plant a seed, it doesn’t immediately sprout. First, it requires nurturing—sunlight, water, and time to grow roots deep enough to support its full potential. The same is true for the seeds of success we plant in our lives. We might not see progress right away, but that doesn’t mean growth isn’t happening below the surface.

In my novel S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™, the characters often face this challenge. Take Jeff, for example. As a freedom fighter in a world filled with darkness, he must persevere through countless battles. Despite his constant efforts, victory doesn’t come easily. In one pivotal scene, Jeff enters the Demon Master’s stronghold, hoping to rescue villagers trapped by evil forces. Although he fights bravely, he initially fails to save them, experiencing frustration and heartbreak. However, Jeff doesn’t give up. He understands that his mission requires patience and resilience. He trusts that even in moments of failure, each step is building towards something greater.

Like Jeff, we all face setbacks in our lives. There will be moments when things don’t go as planned, and it’s easy to lose hope. But these challenges teach us resilience and the importance of staying committed to our purpose, just as it did for Jeff in his battle to save the people of Dark Earth.

Patience is a virtue not just for Jeff, but for all of the characters in S.O.L.A.D.. Angelo and Angeline, two of the novel’s central figures, must also trust the process as they grow into their roles as Soldiers of Light Against Darkness. Their journey teaches readers that it’s not just the end result that matters, but who we become during the process. Patience transforms them, shaping them into the heroes they were meant to be. Likewise, it shapes us, helping us grow stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

As the Bible says in James 5:7 (NIV):"Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains."

This verse is a beautiful reminder that everything has its season. Just like a farmer waits for his crops to mature, we must trust that our hard work will yield results in due time. Whether we’re sowing seeds of personal growth, career goals, or relationships, we must trust the process.

The journey of patience is not easy, but it’s essential. One example from S.O.L.A.D. is when Angelo and Angeline, despite facing overwhelming odds, learn to trust the timing of their mission. They realize that their victories don’t come overnight but are the result of unwavering faith, discipline, and persistence. It’s a lesson we can all apply to our lives—whether we’re working toward a professional goal, building relationships, or deepening our spiritual walk.

In our day-to-day lives, it’s easy to become impatient. We want results now, forgetting that the most meaningful achievements take time. However, just like the characters in S.O.L.A.D., we must trust that the seeds we plant will eventually bloom, even if the process takes longer than we expect. Each step we take, each lesson we learn along the way, helps us grow into the people we’re meant to become.

As you go about your week, remember: The seeds you plant today may not grow immediately, but with patience, they will bear fruit. Keep moving forward, trusting that your efforts will pay off in due time.
