Today, on the 27th day of International Black Women’s History Month, we lift our voices in celebration and recognition of the divine courage woven into the lives of Black women. Their stories are not just tales of survival—they are testimonies of purpose, power, and perseverance.
They are women crowned not by circumstance but by calling, walking boldly into places the world once tried to bar them from, carrying mantles the world said they weren’t qualified to hold.
They are daughters of destiny, rising not for applause, but because obedience demands it.
Biblical Examples of Crowned Courage
Esther: Courage to Save a Nation
When facing possible death to save her people, Esther did not flinch. She knew her crown wasn't for comfort; it was for calling. She risked everything with the declaration: "If I perish, I perish." (Esther 4:16)
Deborah: Courage to Lead in a Male-Dominated World
Deborah judged Israel with wisdom and led armies with prophetic precision. She rose to leadership in a time when women were often silenced, standing as a living rebuke to fear and tradition.
Mary, the Mother of Jesus: Courage to Carry the Messiah
Chosen at a young age to bear the Son of God, Mary’s "yes" to God's plan showed a level of trust and bravery that changed the world. She bore ridicule, danger, and the unknown—all with unwavering faith.
These women weren't crowned by men. They were crowned by God’s purpose, and their courage paved the way for generations.
Modern Black Women: Crowns, Courage, and Christ
Coretta Scott King
Carrying on her husband's legacy while forging her own, Coretta was a fierce advocate for peace, justice, and the Kingdom of God on earth.
Ida B. Wells
Against death threats and societal scorn, she courageously exposed racial injustices and spoke truth to power—a crown carried with dignity.
Michelle Obama
Facing immense public scrutiny and systemic bias, she embraced grace, intelligence, and an unshakable sense of self, encouraging a new generation to "go high" when the world goes low.
And countless others: mothers, teachers, pastors, healers, mentors—Black women crowned by Christ, walking courageously through everyday battles.
What Crowned Courage Looks Like
Saying "yes" to God’s plan without having all the answers
Standing for justice even when it's unpopular
Loving deeply in a world that tries to harden hearts
Protecting and nurturing future generations
Pursuing dreams with grit, grace, and godliness
Rising every day despite exhaustion, opposition, or fear
Proverbs 31:25 (NKJV) says:
"Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come."
In S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™
In the S.O.L.A.D.™ series, Black women like Kandace Edwards, Juanita Grayson, Melanie, and Isabella Edwards embody crowned courage. They don't just endure; they advance the Kingdom. They mentor, they pray, they speak with boldness and wisdom that pierces darkness.
Their crowns aren't earthly diadems—they are heavenly mandates carried with honor and humility.
Conclusion: Walk Boldly, Daughter of the King
You are crowned.
Not by man.
Not by culture.
Not by circumstance.
You are crowned by Christ.
Walk boldly in your purpose.
Speak truth even if your voice shakes.
Hold your head high even when the weight feels heavy.
Because your crown is not made of gold—it is forged in faith, courage, and obedience.
You are crowned with courage. Walk like it.
