Tony's Soldiers of Light Sundays: Hope for the Future

Writer's picture: Tyrone Tony Reed Jr.Tyrone Tony Reed Jr.

Hope is an extraordinary force. It’s not just a feeling or an abstract idea; it’s a living, breathing presence in our lives that keeps us moving forward when everything around us says to give up. It’s the quiet voice that whispers, “Hold on a little longer,” when the storms of life feel unbearable. Hope is what gives us strength to press on, faith to keep believing, and joy in the expectation of brighter days ahead.

For 51 days, I’ve been in a season of waiting, a time where the stability of a full-time job and steady income has been absent. But even in this challenging moment, I choose to hold on to hope and continuing using my God-given talent to write novels and posts and help encourage others. I choose to trust that God, who has brought me through countless storms before, will once again prove Himself faithful. He will provide for me, my family, and my future in ways that exceed my imagination. I believe this with all my heart because hope isn’t just about wishful thinking—it’s about knowing that God is working all things together for our good.

Hope Anchors the Soul

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 6:19 (MSG):"We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline."

This verse paints a beautiful picture of hope as an anchor—something that holds us steady when the winds howl and the waves crash around us. Without hope, we drift aimlessly, tossed by every trial and tribulation. But with hope, we are grounded, immovable, and secure, no matter how fierce the storm.

Right now, I’m holding tightly to that anchor. It’s not always easy, especially when fear and uncertainty try to creep in. But I’ve seen God’s faithfulness too many times to doubt Him now. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. If He’s made a way before, He’ll do it again—and not just for me, but for anyone who chooses to trust Him.

Work While You Wait

Waiting is not a passive state. It’s not a time to sit idly by, hoping for change to happen on its own. Waiting is a time to prepare, to grow, and to work towards the future that God is leading you to.

Isaiah 40:31 (MSG):"But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind."

When God places a vision or purpose in your heart, He expects you to take steps of faith toward it. He doesn’t ask for perfection—He asks for progress. Even now, in this season of waiting, I’m working. I’m sharpening my skills, building my faith, and staying ready for the opportunities God is preparing for me.

Waiting is not a time to be lazy; it’s a time to be diligent. It’s a time to sow seeds that will produce a harvest in due season. As the Bible says in Galatians 6:9 (MSG):"So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time, we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit."

Hope in the Midst of Darkness

In S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™, the characters face overwhelming challenges and seemingly insurmountable odds. They stand in the gap between light and darkness, fighting battles that often feel impossible to win. And yet, they never lose hope. That hope is their greatest weapon, a beacon that guides them when everything else seems lost.

Like the heroes in S.O.L.A.D.™, we all face our own battles. Some days, the darkness feels overwhelming. Financial struggles, health challenges, broken relationships, and unfulfilled dreams can weigh heavily on our hearts. It’s in these moments that hope becomes not just a comfort but a necessity.

Hope reminds us that this isn’t the end of the story. It tells us that even when we can’t see the way forward, God is working behind the scenes. It’s a promise that no matter how dark the night, morning is coming. And with it, joy.

Keep Moving Forward

Hope isn’t passive—it’s active. It requires perseverance, faith, and action. It’s about continuing to move forward, even when the road is hard. It’s about choosing to get up every morning and say, “I believe better days are coming,” even when you can’t see them yet.

Here’s a truth to hold on to: “Hope isn’t just about believing in a better tomorrow; it’s about working toward it today.”

During this season, I’ve learned the importance of staying proactive. I’ve used this time to grow, to plan, and to prepare for the next chapter. I’ve leaned into God’s Word, sought His guidance, and trusted Him to open the right doors at the right time. And while the waiting isn’t easy, it’s a reminder that hope is worth holding onto.

The Power of Community

Hope isn’t something we’re meant to carry alone. It’s something we share with one another, lifting each other up and encouraging each other when times are tough.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about S.O.L.A.D.™. It’s more than just a story—it’s a reminder of the power of community. The heroes in the book rely on each other, drawing strength from their shared mission and their shared hope.

In the same way, we’re called to be Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™ in our own lives, supporting and encouraging those around us. Whether it’s through a kind word, a helping hand, or a simple prayer, we have the power to bring hope to others.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (MSG):"By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped."

God’s Faithfulness Never Fails

As I reflect on these 51 days, I’m reminded of all the times God has been faithful in the past. He has never failed me, and I know He won’t start now. He has provided for me in ways I never expected, and He has blessed me with opportunities that I could never have created on my own.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (MSG):"So we’re not giving up. How could we? Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without His unfolding grace."

Even in the waiting, I see His hand at work. I see it in the strength He gives me each day, in the love and support of my family, and in the encouragement of those around me. I see it in the moments of peace that remind me He is in control.

A Future Full of Hope

If you’re going through a tough time right now, I want to encourage you: don’t give up. Don’t let go of hope. No matter how difficult things seem, brighter days are ahead. God has a plan for your life—a plan filled with hope, purpose, and a future that exceeds your wildest dreams.

You may not see the full picture yet, but trust that He is working. He is arranging the pieces, opening the doors, and preparing the way. And when the time is right, you’ll look back and see that every step, every trial, and every moment was leading you to something greater.

Romans 15:13 (MSG):"Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!"
